Estimating the ages of trees in Further Plantation and Aquilegia - Day 41

Another wet day, but the walk in the woods was still lovely. I got quite exited using trunk circumference to estimate the age of some of the trees in Further Plantation. The first Yew I measured came in at 409 years old. A large Beech was surprisingly young at 123 years, as was the splendid Horsechestnut on the upper path, which despite a circumferance of 383cm, was only 223 years old.

On the wildflower lawn Aquilegia has started to flower.
