The Ouse

I decided to walk along the banks of the Ouse at Barcombe to look for spawning Lamprey. No luck, but I did hear calling Marsh Frogs near the Anchor Inn.

Some of the many small fish shoaling at the bank near the Anchor.

A pair of mating Banded Demoiselle.

Banded Demoiselle in large numbers on the slow flowing Ouse.

Marvellous flower meadows.

Male Banded Demoiselle.

Female Banded Demoiselle.

After my walk I realised that the Lamprey would have to be below the weirs at Barcombe Mill, which will be the focus of a future expedition.
