Kittiwakes at Seaford Head

The Kittiwake colony at Splash Point, Seaford Head is a fantastic spectacle in June.

Kittiwakes are small, delicate gulls.

I visited on a particularly windy day and dozens of birds were roosting on the exposed sand. A Herring Gull in the bottom left-hand corner provides a useful scale comparison.

The Kittiwakes had used seaweed and bits of discarded fishing net to make nests.

Kittiwakes over the choppy sea.

Skylark.

Juvenile Stonechat.
