RSPB Lakenheath Fen

Visited this wonderful reserve on a very hot day, 29'C! Saw Bitterns 3, 4 and 5 of my life as they made feeding flights, plus Cuckoo, Hobby and numerous Kingfishers.

Stripey-headed juvenile Great Crested Grebe with an adult.

Male Marsh Harrier.

Family of Coots.

Mating Black-tailed Skimmers, the male is blue.

Male Reed Bunting.

Great Crested Grebe on the Little Ouse river, which runs along the edge of the reserve.


Comma feeding on thistle.

British Long-horn Cattle on the banks of the Little Ouse.

Black-tailed Skimmer male.

Small Tortoiseshell.

Selfheal Prunella vulgaris.
