Garden Pond

At least 6 of these dragonflies have emerged from our garden pond this week. The pond is just over 1 year old, being dug last June. I think they are Common Darters, Sympetrum striolatum, based on the shape of the exuvia (the larval outer skin), but I am not certain.

 Newly emerged adult.

Colour starting to develop after a few hours of drying.

Exuvia, the abandoned outer case of the larva.
