France 5: Annecy

We set off early to visit Annecy, known as the French Venice; a lovely city on a lake surrounded by mountains.

An adult and juvenile Great Crested Grebe.

The adult has its head in the water looking for fish.

The juvenile Great Crested Grebe. There were also Goosanders on the lake.

A Black-headed Gull in eclipse plumage.

Came across this bird in a small park in the city centre. The dark coloured tip to its beak identifies it as a Booted Warbler. A lifetime first.

Some photographs of Annecy, with its network of rivers and canals.

A Garden Tiger Moth, back in Assin in the afternoon sun.

Another Box-tree Moth.
