Litlington and Frog Firle

The Cuckmere Valley is transformed during periods of heavy rain in the winter, becoming a marvellous wetland.

Looking south from Frog Firle.

Meadow Pipit.

Rock Pipit. There were also a couple of Water Pipits in the valley; this species winters here every year.

Flooded meadows.

Quite at home, in what was a field a few weeks ago, three of the eleven Shovelers I saw.

The view west towards High and Over from Litlington.

The valley just north of Frog Firle.

In addition to the Shoveler, there were good numbers of Canada Geese, Wigeon, Mallard, Teal and Mute Swan.

The Cuckmere.
