Summer Hoilday Day 18: Bees, Sefton Park Liverpool

Despite the wind from Storm Floris, which had passed to the north the day before, lots of bees were busy in a patch of Lavender: Buff-tailed Bumblebee, Common Carder Bee and Honeybee.

The Lavender was next to the magnificent Palm House.

Moorhen, in one of the streams in the park.

Black-headed Gull

Juvenile Lesser Black-backed Gull

Surprisingly, Lesser Black-backed Gulls were easily the commonest gull in Liverpool. Their distinctive cries were noticeably different from the familiar Herring Gulls of Eastbourne.
