France 7 Venec Nature Reserve

On a cooler and wetter day we drove west to Finistere to visit the Venec nature reserve near Brennilis, to look for the European Beaver.

A rather damp looking Chorthippus parallelus, Meadow Grasshopper.

No actual Beaver , but we did see signs of their activity.

Lasiocampa quercus, a male Oak Eggar Moth.

Later, back in Canihuel the sun returned.


The snake mimicking Elephant Hawkmoth caterpillar, with fake eyes. When disturbed it rears up an waves from side to side to add to the disguise.

Moss Carder Bee, Bombus Muscorum.
