France 5: Gorges de Toul Goulic and Canihuel

Gorges de Toul Goulic was formed by the river Blavet. The river is full of huge granite boulders, and runs down a heavily forested valley. The lower water levels in the summer mean it is possible to clamber over the boulders and explore.

White Admiral. This elusive species was present in large numbers.

Pond Skaters, which had collected in one of the few remaining pools of the river

Cobwebs in the gorge

Later in the day we returned to Canihuel and I explored the woodland around the stream that feeds the lake.
