Park Corner Heath and Rowland Wood

A sunny, if slightly breezy, day in June. The hunt for Small Peal-bordered Fritillary meant a walk around this lovely reserve.

Almost immediately we saw a White Admiral. There were Meadow Browns and numerous Large Skippers. Some really splendid dragonflies eventually landed and revealed themselves to be Emperors and Golden-ringed. There were also Common Blue Damselfly.

The rambunctious Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries were very active. Twice I saw them chasing Large Skippers.

Song Thrush, Blackbird, Chiffchaff and Garden Warbler song.
