Lizard and Bee Orchids

Delighted to count five spikes of Lizard Orchid. It seems this colony is expanding steadily.

In the golden evening light we then searched for Bee Orchids, in a location where over 50 individual plants have grown in previous years. Only a few were present, with only one in flower.

A Peregrine spent several minutes quartering the field and hedge of Hodcombe. Wheeling and stooping in an attempt to flush a bird.
