Just north of Arlington church, a few fields of sunflowers have been left unharvested this winter. This has attracted huge flocks of finches, which feed on the seeds.
Linnets are the most common (I estimated 200+), but there are high numbers of Goldfinch and Chaffinch, with several Greenfinch and a few Brambling. The birds form mixed flocks and the sound of their song is fantastic.
