Found this beast of a caterpillar on the willow in my back garden.
The Caterpillar of the Poplar Hawkmoth,
Laothoe populi. This one was over 8cm long.
I was very taken with the three pairs of true legs at the front, and the four pairs of abdominal prolegs.
