Waxwings

After six attempts, spread over several weeks, I finally managed to see some Waxwings in Bexhill. Seven birds had been feeding on some berry covered Cotoneaster trees, on and off, for over a week. I had actually started to dream about seeing them.

As I arrived the birds were feeding in the trees, prompting wild elation and some rather erratic parking in a nearby side road.

The birds followed a pattern: feeding for a few minutes then retreating to the top of a nearby Sycamore tree to digest for 15 to 20 minutes before returning to repeat the performance.

The Bexhill seven.

It was a bitterly cold and the gloomy light meant the colours of the birds were somewhat muted. I managed to stay for about four of the feeding forays before seeking the warmth of the car.
