Pond Update

As expected, the pond is full of fly larvae. There is also a water beetle, which is just over a centimetre long.

The Large Red Damselflies have returned, with three individuals seen. Two of them were in a mating clasp.

Two days later two of the three Damselflies were dead. The third was dragging itself around the edge of a pond lily leaf, half in the water. Its tail was moving in the water, curling round to lay eggs underneath the leaf.
