#15 Heath Dog Violet

#16 Garden Forget-me-not

Adders, Shooters Bottom

Sunny mornings in March are ideal for Adder spotting. A long search was eventually  rewarded with two females, who were well tucked away in a sunny spot under a bush

Amazing camouflage

Previous image cropped to show the two females contemplating each other.

Bloody-nosed Beetle

Two of the three Red Kites that drifted over.

They really upset the Ravens and the Peregrine.

Common Lizard, Hill Road

Much excitement when this Common Lizard was spotted basking near the salt bin on Hill Road!

For obvious reasons, it has been named as Stumpy.

Buzzards and Jays, Hill Road

A pair of calling and displaying Buzzards over Hill Road seem to have captured the imagination of at least one of the resident Jays, of which there are at lest four.

A low flying, calling Buzzard was revealed to be in fact a Jay, being followed closely by three other excited Jays.

Butterflies in the Blackthorn, Hill Road

Last summer the 'new' White Path, that curves above Hill Road provided a wonderful wildlife spectacle when the Buddleia was in flower: Butterflies on the White Path and Butterflies on the White Path, part 2.

This Spring, the flowering Blackthorn has provided some early butterfly action, with Peacocks, Commas and Brimstones in good numbers. The Red Admirals that were around a few weeks seemed to have moved on.
