Garden

At the end of summer, grasshopper activity reaches it peak in the garden.

Field Grasshopper, Chorthippus brunneus

Common Green Grasshopper, Omocestus viridulus

Two species of grasshopper and a smaller hopper

Caterpillars of the Toadflax Brocade Moth, Calophasia lunula, rather fittingly feeding on Toadflax. It took me ages to identify this species, as it it relatively new to the UK, and is still uncommon

Whinchats

One of the most exciting things about migration is how different species pass through at the same time.
