Sheffield Park

For me summer starts on the 1st of June. The trees at Sheffield Park were in full leaf and juvenile birds were everywhere.

A White-legged Damselfly, Platycnemsis pennipes.

I have walked past this tree dozens of times, but have only just noticed its face.

Spotted Orchid

Canada Goose goslings

Newly fledged Nuthatch. There were at least four, with the parent very busily returning to feed them.

We are converting the front lawn into a wildflower meadow. The Yellow Rattle is doing well, and there are at least 10 other species, but the non native Fox and Cubs, Pilosella aurantiaca  is also well established.
